Baking Begins Here...

Our idea of a Bakery goes back to Joe's family bakery business in Poland.  His grandfather was a baker.  We know that fresh baked goods start with quality ingredients, and have to be baked fresh daily.  When you take a look behind our Bakery area, you'll find fresh baked bread loaves, muffins, coffee cakes, cookies and more.  We don't bring in a lot of pre-packaged goods, because we know taste and quality are the big factors in baked goods.
              
We have a great staff in the Bakery, who are dedicated to their work, even when that means coming in before 5 AM to have donuts ready before the store opens!  They bake elegant breakfast foods, gourmet breads, and more, then package them and shelve them, fresh for pick up within hours.  Try our bread  and buns on sandwiches, hamburgers, or pair it with any dinner.  You're going to find wonderful tasting, fresh products at a great price. 

 

Employees Make the Difference...

    

We're proud to have Chris as our Bakery Manager and cake decorator.  Chris is one of the most creative individuals you'll ever meet, and you can see that by his cake creations.
 

How did you become a cake decorator?

Chris has been working with Market Place for over 17 years.  He started out stocking, and was asked to try cake decorating when the position was vacant.  "My training was about five hours long.  Everything I learned, I learned here by trying different things.  I try out things and see things on T.V."
 
He is a true artist, coming up with cut out cakes and decorated tier cakes worthy of his own T.V. show.  Around 2007, a customer requested a cake made with fondant icing, and Chris began working with modeling fondant for cakes.  Anything is possible, just ask, and it always seems to turn out better than you could have imagined.  "I've never said, 'No, I can't do that kind of design," Chris says.
 

What else?

Besides decorating, which can take multiple hours for just one cake, Chris also manages the Bakery.  He and his team are constantly baking breads, pies, cookies, breakfast sweets and more.  "We bake most of our stuff here: cookies, muffins, bread, rolls... Wal-Mart doesn't do that," he comments.
